Highland Youth Football

PLAYER/CHEERLEADER GUIDELINES for 2007

 

With the television filled nightly with juveniles who have chosen the wrong paths in life, our main objective is to make a difference in the lives of many youngsters - keeping them on the right path and showing them the positive side of life through athletics.

 

CONDUCT:     Players, Cheerleaders, and Mascots are expected to:

A.   respect all coaches, fellow players, and other HYF members and follow all rules stated on UDYFA Contract and Cert. Form.

B.   refrain from using foul language, fighting, smoking, alcohol or pets at all practices, games, or HYF functions.

C.   play/cheer any position assigned to them and to do their very best for their team at all times.  Participation is a MUST to stay on a squad/team.

                        D.   play the game hard and cleanly at all times in a true sportsmanship like manner.

E.   attend three 2-hour practices and one game per week.  Players are also expected to attend all preseason practices.  Parents are to notify their Team Manager or Head Coach before practices or games, if their child will not be there.  Players are required to be at the field 30-60 minutes prior to their scheduled game time on Game Days.

F.   maintain at least a 2.0 grade average or higher throughout the current school year and will be required to show proof of such at least once or twice during the HYF season.  (Forms will be sent home which will require your teacher's signature).

Players/Cheerleaders must meet the weight and age requirements as per the UDYFA guidelines and be certified by the league to play/cheer.

 

DISCIPLINE    A.   Any violation of the above rules (Conduct A.-D.)will result in the following action(s):

                                    1.   First Offense - Written warning and notification to parent(s).

                        2.   Second Offense - One week suspension from all practices and game.

                                    3.   Third Offense - Permanent removal from the team & HYF (NO REFUND will be given!).

B.   Grades(Conduct F.)-If player’s grade point average is below 2.0 or the player has failed to produce written proof that it is above 2.0, the player will be indefinitely suspended from the team.  Absolutely no player/cheerleader will be permitted to participate in playoffs or cheer competition unless they have produced written proof that they currently have a 2.0 G.P.A. or higher.

C.   Attendance(Conduct E) - an unexcused absence from practice or a game will result in the player not playing/cheering in the following game.  An excused absence or tardy is when the Team Manager or Head Coach has been notified prior to the practice or game that the player will not be there due to illness, family emergency, or ?(see Coach for any other possible excusable reasons).  If a player has more than one excusable absence in a week, only the Head Coach will decide if he/she is fit to play/cheer in that week's game.  No Exceptions!

D.   Minor problems such as unexcused tardy to practice, talking/fooling around during practice, forgetting equip., etc. may result in any one of the following disciplinary actions:

                                    1.   Lap running             2.   Ups and Downs       3.   Push ups

 

HYF chain of command for handling problems, suggestions, concerns complaints, etc. is done in the following order:

                                 1.   Team Manager/Head Coach

                 2.   Football or Cheer Director

                                 3.   Highland Youth Football Executive Board Member

Highland Youth Football is a non profit youth organization.  All funds are used to cover the following operating costs:

                                1.   Equipment                                        2.   Association Fees

                                3.   Referee Fees                                      4.   First Aid Supplies & Training

                                5.   Field Use/Park Use                           6.   Trophies

7.   Picture Packets(A basic photo package will be provided.  You may purchase additional photos from the photographer if you wish.)

                                8.   Insurance(see section VI of Certification Form for coverage information)

9.        Uniforms

10.     Homecoming

11.     General – copies(flyers,notices,etc.), postage, mailbox, equip storage, phone lines, etc.
